Prathibha Prahlad

 Prathibha Prahlad is a classical dancer par excellence, choreographer, educator, author and a cultural visionary. In a career spanning 40 years, she has performed in over 60 Countries and created path-breaking cultural equites for India. Her exemplary work in showcasing Indian arts and artistes on a global scale is profound and unparalleled in contemporary history.

Prathibha Prahlad's innate understanding of  cultural diplomacy and cultural tourism led her to create the Delhi International Arts Festival-India's Signature Arts Festival of international repute, of which she is the Founder Festival Director. Earlier, she created the Hampi National Tourism Festival, was the 'Culture Convenor' of the Commonwealth Games 2020,in charge of  the Opening and Closing ceremonies and the culture head of Hannover Expo 2000, a high powered cabinet committee on culture. She has served with distinction on several committees of the Govt. of India, pertaining to culture.




Sangeet Natak Akademi Award - presented by the Central Sangeet Natak Akademi for Bharatanatyam, 2001. 'Karnataka Rajyotsava Award'- presented by the Karnataka State Government, 2001. 'Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini Award' - presented by All-India National Unity Conference, New Delhi, 2001.


Performances around the world

Prathibha Prahlad has had the honour of performing for the United Nations in Bangkok in 1989 and in New York in 1995. She had the distinction of being the only Indian dancer invited to perform in the Manila International Dance Festival, Philippines in 1991, the Okayama International Dance Festival, Japan in 1993.

Prathibha Prahlad is a celebrated Indian Bharatanatyam dancer whose multi- faceted personality reflects in the outstanding work she continues to do in the arts field. Her contribution goes much beyond her own trail-blazing dance career which has taken her to prestigious platforms all over the world.



Smt. Prahlad has served extensively on several Government Committees on culture and worked for the propagation of Indian performing arts. She was the convener of the Culture Committee of the Commonwealth Games 2010,Closing Ceremony of the Games.


Key initiatives

The Prasiddha Foundation was established in 1991 with the purpose of fostering love and appreciation for all forms of art and to work through the medium of arts for the promotion of national and international cultural contact. Many high profile festivals that have been organised by Prasiddha Foundation.
